Jazz Festival, Abuja Skales Out With Afrobeat Tune, Temper
Raoul John Njeng-Njeng who goes by the stage name Skales is the artiste responsible for the hit title Shake Body in 2014. His stint in music landed him his first deal with Banky W’s Empire Mates Entertainment (stylized as E.M.E) under which he debuted his album; Man on Fire.

Down the line, he’s managed to dish out songs worthy of his fame. However in 2016, his songs haven’t really caught up to expectation, with tunes like Nobody’s Business in collaboration with Banky W, and Ajaga. News of the matter here is that, just a couple of days ago, the Upfront & Personal signee has yet again hit the stage with a new tune; Temper produced by Krizbeatz (responsible for Teckno’s Pana beats).
Featuring mellow drum arrangements, and a vacant rhythm, Skales plays with the spaces on this song to provide a minimalist delivery backed by sneaking horns, and syncopation. Inspiration from this comes from root Afrobeat, with echoes of Wizkid’s Ojuelegba mixed with Pana on the instrumentation. This sonic overlap is what instantly opens up the listener to this one, and sinks in at first listening.
Since after releasing the song, fans have been applauding his effort towards the song. Temper, despite the odds, has thrown Skales in a positive light in defense of his creativity. It will seem that Skales has awoken and has stepped up his game with Temper.
