Pastor, 4 others, Abducted in Ekiti

No fewer than five persons were abducted in the early hours of yesterday in Ekiti State.

Local sources told newsmen in Ado Ekiti that the five persons abducted, included a pastor, simply identified as Ojo, and his driver, Jimoh as well as three other victims.

Confirming the incident, Ekiti State Police Command spokesman, Alberto Adeyemi, said the victims were picked by their assailants while traveling in two vehicles at a spot along Ise Ekiti road, in Ise/Orun Local Government Area of the state.

The Police spokesperson added that: “The motive of the abduction was not immediately known as those kidnapped are believed not to belong to the category of well-known or wealthy individuals in the society.”

Adeyemi said two of the abducted persons had been rescued while his men were on the trail of the hoodlums to rescue the remaining victims.

He however, could not confirm if a pastor was among those kidnapped.

He urged residents to help the police by reporting suspicious faces and movements around them.

He warned criminals to immediately give up their evil tendencies or relocate from the state in their own interest, saying their days of nemesis are near should they fail to turn a new leaf.

Abducted Ekiti INEC scribe regains freedom

THE kidnapped Administrative Secretary of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in Ekiti State, Dr Muslim Omoleke, has been released.

Sunday Sun gathered that Omoleke was released by his abductors on Friday night.

The INEC scribe was kidnapped by yet-to-be identified kidnappers at Iwaraja community, near Ilesa in Osun State, on November 3 in the evening.

The Public Relations Officer of INEC, EKiti, Alhaji Taiwo Gbadegesin, confirmed the development to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti yesterday in a telephone chat.

“We are grateful to you all — the press, the security agents and other sympathisers — for your efforts at seeing to the quick release of Dr. Muslim Omoleke.

“He was released by his abductors late on Friday night. The newsmen and security men did well to enhance his release from the hands of the bandits,” Gbadegesin said.
He added: “Our sincere gratitude goes to the Commissioner of Police for Osun, CP Adeoye Fimihan and Commissioner of Police EKiti command, Etop James.”
